In the midst of chaos, where do we find inner peace? How can we practice resistance in stillness? In this session we will create space for reflections through collective and conscientious movement, to exercise mental and physical resilience; to nourish radical hope. If you need a space or practice to reconnect, to find clarity, to sharpen your focus, to move forward in community action and collective care, we welcome you to join us.

This session takes place on the last day of Refugee Welcome Week. Participants will be experiencing and practicing radical hope through different pathways. In this session, we look inward to ground ourselves, connect, and find our inner strength.
Guided by Bin Zhu, we will gather in Vondelpark where we will learn about traditional Chinese movement meditations, like Qigong and Taichi, as a source of awakening our life force energy, or chi: To find radical hope within the stillness of our breath, and steadiness of our body. Resistance in stillness is about unifying polar opposites, harnessing balance and practicing reciprocity: The energy you give is ideally met with the energy you allow yourself to receive. The movement needs us, and we need movement.
We will close with a moment to share experiences, thoughts, and refreshments before we head over to Ventilator Cinema (OT301) for an afternoon of films provided by Refugee Week UK and Queer Cinema for Palestine. Tickets for the screening can be purchased seperately.

Bin Zhu, of Chinese descent, has a profound background in Taichi, nurtured from a young age under the guidance of her father. In 2020, Bin traveled to China for a two-year Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment, where she met an extraordinary master and became her disciple. This invaluable mentorship allowed her to explore and master multiple styles and forms of Taichi. Before returning to the Netherlands, Bin participated in the Beijing district martial art competition, earning 2nd prize in Taichi sword and 3rd prize in Taichi boxing. Back in the Netherlands, Bin established several Taichi classes at different locations, offering weekly sessions. Her expertise and passion have also led her to conduct several workshops and performances at the EYE Museum, the Flam Festival, and an 8 weeks workshop series at De Nieuwe Yogaschool. Bin is also one of the six teachers at the Wereldmuseum live lessons, contributing to the new Martial Art exhibition summer program.
